C/O value lesson
Hey,
im writing this with only 14% battery but I had to cuz I just got two C/Os (aka cold outreaches) on Instagram that made me want to delete the app.
First one:

Second one:

both are so bad I had to screenshot them just to laugh about it (and show you what NOT to do.)
Honestly, this happens every single day and (you probably do this too) most people have no idea they're doing it wrong.
yeah, maybe it's because they learned from some "DM automation guru" or bought a course on cold outreach but tbh I think it's because they're trying too hard to sound "professional" or create fake urgency.
Why does this fail?
well, there are two main reasons…
You're a stranger sending a message. That sets off alarm bells. When you try to hide that fact or create fake FOMO, people get MORE suspicious, not less.
Everyone else does the same thing. So you blend in with all the other garbage messages.
Now you'd think that being honest about being a stranger would hurt you but honestly, it doesn't.
You just own it in the first line then make them curious and then when they keep reading, they're interested… because you're different.
So here's what actually works.
Start by naming the elephant in the room: "You don't know me. I'm {Your Name}."
Open the loop with your subject line: Use 3-4 words max. "Apologies" or "The Audacity Of This Email" work because they create curiosity.
Flow into action fast: Keep your pitch to 2 short paragraphs. Be modest. Don't make them feel sold to.
Close uniquely: "Have a remarkably lovely day" beats "Best regards" every single time.
(I personally hate ‘best regards’)
Don’t try to create fake urgency.
Be human - sound like one.
Try this on your next 10 cold outreaches and watch what happens.
;)
